While other people crave chocolate, fast food or other types of sinful dishes when they are sick or stressed out, mine is definitely Vietnamese food – specifically cold rolls and pho. I love the light and fresh flavours that leave you feeling full and happy. I usually order it from my favourite restaurant in town, the Asian Wok, but tonight I decided it was time to learn to make my own – especially with finances being strict with the new house and being sick and not wanting to be out in public…. So I made the dive and made my own shrimp pho. Continue reading

Over the years, I’ve developed a love-hate relationship with a little blue blox. Yes we have all had it, Kraft Dinner. There would be periods of time where I wouldn’t touch this stuff with a 10 foot pole and other times where I couldn’t get enough – give it to with ketchup, tuna, hot dogs, whatever, I just loved KD. Now, how many people out there have had the real meal deal? Probably not many, so why don’t you try this easy recipe for yourself and experience the magic of what Macaroni & Cheese is really supposed to taste like!
Let’s get to the recipe…

I was recently craving chilli, but I’m not the biggest fan of ground beef, so when I stumbled upon some ground turkey at Wal-mart I knew this could satisfy my craving! I wanted to make a chilli that was filling, healthy and had a nice sweet warmth to it, so off into the kitchen I ventured.
After a recent challenge from the honorary eater of the Boy Bait Cookies to re-create Culina’s famous blueberry butter, I ventured into the kitchen to see if I could even come close to matching it. Well, I think I may have done it!! *Secretly gave myself a quick fist pound in the kitchen for accomplishing this – shhh don’t tell anyone…* And to my surprise, making homemade butter was even easier than I thought, so now I challenge you to make some of your own homemade butter:

Festive Chicken Noodle Soup (for the Marathon Runner’s Soul)
Recently our mother ran her first half marathon (woot! way to go mom!) and had some of her running friends for a carb & protein loading party the night before. A part of their dinner was Beer Butt Chicken, so we took the carcasses (shouldn’t there be a better word than that for a cooking blog? That word sounds so morbid) and made some soup. So just remember friends, when the world gives you chicken, make some chicken soup or should we settle for the quote by Lady Gaga “Once you kill a chicken, you gotta make some chicken soup.”
