My family has always been big on leftovers, and as a result I embrace the ability to re-purpose yesterdays meal into something new and delicious! More often than not, it’s something simple like a sandwich or quesadilla, but depending on what you’re left with you can make some pretty awesome meals! In this case, after a work related function, my mom was left with a bunch of roast beef and potatoes, which became this delicious twice baked potato!

Scouring my fridge for complementary ingredients, I found blue cheese and mushrooms, which goes great with both roast beef and potatoes! Combine all of those things together and you have a great side dish or appetizer for your dinner!

Well folks, we have a top contender for grilled cheese of the month…. But really is it fair for this three cheese, meat tomato, etc, etc, combo to be going up against featherweights like “The Slim”?? Maybe not, but WHO CARES!! This was one MEGA DELICIOUS grilled cheese! It’s like having lasagna, without actually having to do all that boiling, frying, stacking and baking (not to mention waiting!). This right here, is a beautiful thing. Ladies and Gentleman, I unveil the Lasagna Grilled Cheese!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for… the fifteenth and FINAL week of the JC100! FIFTEEN WHOLE WEEKS, that’s three and a half months…105 DAYS…nearly a third of a year! And of course, the final dish is one of Julia’s flagship recipes – Boeuf Bourguignon. This couldn’t have worked out better, as my mother made beef stew on Sunday, and had purchased about 5 pounds of stewing beef. Suspecting that this recipe was coming, I made sure she set aside 3 pounds in case my premonitions came true!
As a stew described by Julia Child as “one of the most delicious beef dishes concocted by man”, I was definitely looking forward to the end result of this rather laborious recipe. Though I can’t say whether this was man-kinds most delicious beef dish, as I am no connoisseur of beef stews, it definitely did not disappoint! The stew was rich, hearty and had an array of wonderful flavours!
Buckle up, this is a long one!

Lately I have been quite busy with work, as well as some volunteer activities, and having exhausted all my archived blog posts, I was really hoping to find some time to make some blogworthy food! Fortunately/unfortunately we got a big snowstorm in Saskatoon, which meant things at work would finally slow down for a day or two, meaning I would probably get my afternoon off! Sure enough I did and I knew exactly what I was going to do! So after leaving work, I stopped off at the grocery store and stocked up on various ingredients.

Well, it’s time for another grilled cheese… Will they ever get old? I DON’T THINK SO! Since I only had one grilled cheese size portion of brie cheese left in my fridge, a vigil of sorts was necessary. To treat this last portion of cheese with the respect it deserves, a special grilled cheese was in order, one which ingredients would love to be draped in gooey brie. So without further ado I present to you the Caramelized Onion & Mushroom Brie Grilled Cheese.

A while back I picked up a Sirloin Tip Roast and having never cooked one, I started browsing the food websites looking for a recipe and this one kept coming up. So by popular demand I had to give it a try and I was certainly not disappointed! What I got was a wonderfully juicy and well spiced roast that I enjoyed every bite of.

When I was invited to Jerry’s Food Emporium to try out their new Artisan Burgers, I was thrilled. First off, free food is high on my list of favourite things and secondly, after looking through the press release and watching the video on Jerry’s Artisan Burgers, I was drooling over the flavour pairings they are doing with these burgers. Trying to decide which burger to go with was definitely a challenge, but I ended up ordering the “Big Smoke” which was the staff favourite, as well as the Greek lamb burger which was Elyse, the co-owner’s favourite.
