Barbecue season is here! To celebrate, Carlene and I were asked to talk about barbecuing on CBC Radio’s Saskatoon morning show, and to share some barbecue recipes that differed from the usual steak and burgers. Although we already have a fair bit of unique BBQ recipes on the blog, it got me thinking about the other things I have barbecued but never blogged.

It’s that time of the year… Squash season!

Thanks to my mother planting copious amount of spaghetti squash this year, I have been racking my brain, trying to think of different ways to use that delicious vegetable! In the past, I have always kept it quite simple, roasting the spaghetti squash, then mixing in some diced tomato and onion, which makes a perfectly delicious meal. But this time I wanted to really take advantage of the squash and the fact that it makes a perfect little boat for other ingredients when cut in half.

Tomorrow (or I guess today once this post is published), I will be making my way to New York for the first time, where I will most certainly be enjoying a slice of pizza or two! In the spirit of New York and pizza, I felt this recipe that has been hanging out in my blog archives for quite some time needed to be shared!

This awesome pizza uses Jim Lahey’s amazing “no-knead” pizza dough, making it ridiculously easy to make! You basically just put everything in a bowl the night before, and voila, the next day it has become an amazing pizza dough! Now that’s my kind of recipe! Of course, I had to add a little bit extra to it, because following a recipe to the tee is never as much fun!

Given the popularity of this wrap Carlene made a while back, I knew I had to do a grilled cheese version of it! Well folks, it’s popular for a reason! This was so delicious! Meaty portobello mushroom, sweet roasted red pepper, fresh basil, and all that creamy goat cheese! I can still taste it! This one takes a little more prep work since you have to roast the red pepper, and portobello mushroom, but that just means tossing them in the oven for 30 minutes while you do other things!
