Yesterday I posted a simple Roasted Cauliflower recipe, and today I am following it up with this delicious roasted cauliflower mash! Given how impressed I was with the flavour of the roasted cauliflower, I was even more impressed with these faux mashed potatoes! They were awesome!

Roasted Cauliflower

Roasted Cauliflower | bsinthekitchen.com #cauliflower #healthy #bsinthekitchen

Let’s start by saying I don’t really like cauliflower, but I bought some because it was on sale…story of my life. I had high hopes for this head of cauliflower, but I felt the light fading as it sat in my fridge for one month…and then another month…

Yeah. Two months.

Baked French Fry Poutine

Baked French Fry Poutine | bsinthekitchen.com #poutine #frenchfries #bsinthekitchen

In a continuation of my previous post for Baked French Fries I present to you the always delicious Poutine! This is super easy to make, and I know some of you will shame me for not using REAL gravy, but I gotta say, that salty, delicious instant gravy tastes wonderful on these fries. Guilty pleasure? Maybe.

Anyways, you can’t beat the speed of this one. Baked french fries to Poutine in like 5 minutes! Sounds good to me!

This is more of a guideline than a recipe, because well, who am I to tell you how much gravy and cheese curds you should be putting on your fries!

Bake some fries first, and proceed to recipe!

Baked French Fries

Baked French Fries | bsinthekitchen.com #frenchfries #healthy #bsinthekitchen

Anyone who buys those bags of frozen french fries is just cheating themselves. Especially if you have potatoes in your cupboard. These things are so simple, so delicious, and just look at how beautiful they are! Your frozen potato sticks don’t come close! Grab a russet potato, slice it up, bake it and feel the guilt wash away as you eat these non-deep fried homemade beauties (and then feel guilty as you realize you just ate a ton…oops!). Stay tuned for a much less guilt-free recipe coming in the next day or two using these tasty things! (can you guess what it might be??)

Cauliflower Garlic Cheese “Bread” Sticks

 Cauliflower Garlic Cheese "Bread" Sticks | bsinthekitchen.com #appetizer #cauliflower #bsinthekitchen

I’m slightly addicted to Pinterest (no, that’s a lie. I’m addicted….) and I kept on seeing pins with cauliflower pizza crust, cauliflower bites, cauliflower imitating bread everywhere! After seeing so many of these pins I thought I’d put one to the test and landed on a recipe for Cauliflower Garlic Cheese “Bread” Sticks that looked pretty good so I gave it a whirl. Celery Soup

Celery Soup | bsinthekitchen.com #soup #vegan #bsinthekitchenSorry for being a bit absent on the blog lately and an even bigger thanks to Bob for carrying things along and posting some really delicious recipes. Last night I was pretty hungry and after avoiding groceries for the past three weeks, the only thing I really had in my fridge was celery… yup you heard me… boring ol’ celery. So I chopped a bunch up and just started creating and this is what I came up with. It was a great little soup that would best be served as a side soup or an appetizer to a great sandwich (perhaps one of Bob’s fabulous grilled cheeses). Let’s continue to the recipe. Continue reading

Collard Green Scrambled Egg Wrap

Collard Green Scrambled Egg Wrap | bsinthekitchen.com #breakfast #healthy #bsinthekitchen

Being new to collard greens, I am quite the fan, the large, hearty leaves make a great vegetable side dish, or a great vehicle for other ingredients! Although I kind of failed at this being a healthy recipe (see: bacon & cheese), using a collard green as a wrap instead of your typical tortilla style wrap, is a great low carb alternative! Of course if you want deprive yourself, you can take out the bacon and cheese, making it uber healthy! I say spoil yourself though, put the good stuff in!

Hearty Beet Soup

Roughly a week ago my good friend (and uber-ultra-superbly talented photographer), Lauren made this soup during one of our little editing date nights and I just LOVED it! It was light, hearty and full of flavour. I knew I’d have to recreate it. Luckily for me, I already had all of the simple ingredients in my fridge. Let’s get to this great and easy soup! Continue reading

Red Lentil Carrot Soup with Whole Wheat Cheddar Dill Biscuits

If you’ve been ready the blog for the past little while, you’ll know that I’m on a bit of a lentil kick. These little guys are packed with flavour, fibre, protein and vitamins, so what’s not to love! This easy fall soup is just an extension of my love. Two loves actually because it comes from the Kraft ‘What’s Cooking’ Recipe Flyer (I always find great recipe in those!), I slightly altered the recipe, but nothing huge. But let’s get to the recipe! Cookin’ Greens BBQ Pizza

We were recently contacted by Cookin’ Greens to create a unique and tasty using some of their fresh frozen vegetable mixes. Bob & I decided that creating a veggie packed BBQ pizza would be the best option! Now here is something cool about Cookin’ Greens which I really appreciate: all their frozen veggies (chopped kale, chopped spinach, chopped rapini, Designer Mix and the Athlete’s Mix) are frozen within six hours after being freshly farm picked, then are double washed, double blanched, chopped and flash frozen to seal in the maximum amount of nutrition and flavour. Because of Cookin’ Greens intense process, you can find these frozen veggies in the organic isle. But I’m hungry, so let’s get to the recipe! Continue reading
