Ladies and gentleman…I have a very important update in the culinary world of Bob.

I present REINE DE SABA i.e. my very FIRST time baking for the blog!

Going into the Julia Child 100 year celebration, I knew I wanted to be involved as a way to improve my cooking skills and repertoire. What I didn’t know, is that I would be improving my baking skills too! Naturally, the first week we receive a baking assignment, Carlene is out of town, leaving it in MY HANDS! Not one to back down from a challenge, I committed myself to this recipe and ended up with a successfully baked cake!

Fruit Loop Cupcakes

While lots of dessert trends seem to come and go, I think cupcakes are just one of those things that will stick around forever (like the Little Black Dress of the baking world). After rave reviews of my Dr. Pepper Cupcakes,  Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes & Mancakes (bacon chocolate cupcakes) from BS’ers, I decided to continue on the trend of non-traditional, brand-name treats inspired cupcakes and made these Fruit Loop Cupcakes! The Best Cinnamon Bun Recipe

Since Bob and I have had the blog, I’ve made these cinnamon buns a few times, but just never took photos. Largely due to the fact that they are incredibly time consuming and by the end you either a) just want to sleep or b) want to eat them all! But there is one thing I can guarantee with these cinnamon buns: This will become your favourite recipe for cinnamon buns! Speaking of time, let’s not waist anymore and get cracking on the recipe.

One of my good, long-term friends recently celebrated his 26th birthday so I decided that I should make him some special cupcakes. While he originally requested Mancakes, I had just made them so I wanted to make something a bit different. So with a recent suggestion from another friend, we decided that Cinnamon Toast Crunch cupcakes would be equally as awesome! Pesto-Basil Chocolate Cake with a Parmesan Sour Cream Icing

At work we have an Iron Chef Challenge once a month where a group of people cook off and have their dishes judged by a panel of fellow employees. This month’s secret ingredient is…. PESTO! Right away I knew I didn’t want to do something traditional with pesto, so I ventured off to what I know best: Dessert. I made a Basil Chocolate Cake with a Parmesan Sour Cream Cheese Icing and topped it off with some pine nuts and grated parmesan cheese.
