When I first saw this recipe in Bon Appetit, it was so strange, I couldn’t not try it. I showed it to my room-mates, Celeste and Ross, and we were all intrigued enough to test it out.

Of course, we couldn’t just leave the recipe alone, so we added a fried egg, and the results were quite amazing! After eating it, we realized this toast actually made perfect sense! It had a lot of flavours typically used in Asian cuisine, with its use of peanut, sriracha, green onion, cilantro, and lime.

The day has arrived. The day I venture into the uncharted waters of grilled cheese sandwiches. Bob is the leader of the grilled cheese nation, so it’s time I join forces with him with my first creation: The Breakfast Brie & Pear Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty nervous. Bob’s the master of grilled cheese with creative recipes, beautiful photos and his grilled cheese sandwiches taste as amazing as they look. But there is no better time then the present to jump right in, so let’s get to my first EVER grilled cheese on BS’ in the Kitchen! Continue reading

One of my good, long-term friends recently celebrated his 26th birthday so I decided that I should make him some special cupcakes. While he originally requested Mancakes, I had just made them so I wanted to make something a bit different. So with a recent suggestion from another friend, we decided that Cinnamon Toast Crunch cupcakes would be equally as awesome! Let me tell you – these little babies are packed FULL of flavour and actually taste like the childhood favourite cereal. So go ahead and make these babies – I double dog dare ya’ too! If you caught it a couple posts ago, you already know the genesis of this french toast idea, which came to be as I was fork deep in my Peanut Butter & Banana Stuffed French Toast. While many would wait and just make it the next day, there is no stifling french toast innovation in my kitchen! So with a belly full of Peanut Butter & Banana French Toast I went about (sluggishly) creating my second breakfast of the day! (Followed by a food coma and a subsequent trip to the gym!)

I don’t eat peanut butter very often, but when I do, I LOVE peanut butter and banana sandwiches as well as peanut butter and honey sandwiches. So when I saw this recipe on Foodgawker which combined all of that into a FRENCH TOAST I knew it was going down!

Lately I have been working 7 days a week, but now that it’s Christmas time I finally have some time off and the opportunity to be lazy until 3 o’clock.
Along with having time off, I am also able to cook during the day, meaning I don’t have to set up all my artificial light photo-taking junk and can actually enjoy the beautiful natural light! Makes taking pictures of my food MUCH easier.
But anyways, let’s get to the recipe. I wanted to do something quick, but still blog-worthy (So it wasn’t a completely lazy day!).

If you feel like indulging in an amazing, sweet, delicious and caloric breakfast this recipe is for you! Now I took the shortcut here and didn’t actually make the cinnamon buns since I live a block away from “Grounds for Coffee” which apparently has some of Vancouver’s best cinnamon buns, so I had to try them (they were delish!).
The idea of this breakfast was brought to my attention by my girlfriend Megan, who used to order this at Moxie’s years ago until they got rid of the recipe. So after lamenting about this amazing dish, we had to make it!

The other night I was really craving something with a bit more of a ‘junk food’ taste, but with the weather outside being -45°C I really didn’t feel like braving the cold to grab something to eat and I also didn’t want to pay for delivery, so I looked through an empty fridge to see what I could make to satisfy some cravings and wouldn’t take too long to make. I then remembered I had a bottole Red Clover Blossom Syrup that I received as a gift and I’ve been wanting to use for a while. The creation to combine a craving & this unique syrup? Red Clover Blossom French Toast topped with Toasted Coconut & Pecans.
