Themed cooking seems to be our TV calling and this time it was all in the spirit of luuuuurve for Valentine’s Day or Singles Awareness Day – however you choose to celebrate it. So what says love better than two perfect little red velvet whoopie pie cookies sandwiched together with the love of a cream cheese filling! One of my good friends Lauren just celebrated her 30th birthday. Now, Lauren is one of the hardest working women I know. She works an office job and is also a professional photographer (and voted as our city’s best in 2012), so I knew she needed an extra special cake to help celebrate this milestone birthday! Vanilla Bean Salted Caramels

If anyone is looking for a fairly quick and impressive recipe, salted caramels may just be up your alley! I’ve made my original salted caramel recipe a few times now and just about have it down to a science, but this time I wanted to do something a bit different,so I decided to add some vanilla beans to it. Seriously though, who doesn’t love the warm aroma of vanilla beans and the gorgeous little brown specs of beans really add a level of sophistication to a dish. Bridal Shower Vanilla Confetti Cupcakes

This summer has definitely been the summer of weddings  - and especially August with a wedding/wedding event every single weekend. Two of my good friends, Lauren and Jerrod, got married this weekend at our family acreage. It was definitely a special wedding! Ice Cream Sandies

At work we recently hosted a bake sale to help out a fellow employee that was going through some challenging times within their family. The bake sale, 50/50 and donations all went to help this family out. As a new employee this really impressed me and showed how much the company truly is a ‘family’ – the most functional, dysfunctional family, but still a family. For the bake sale I made these yummy little homemade ice cream sandies (aka. sandwiches). Within one day of  fundraising we’ve raised approximately $2,500 for our fellow employee! Vanilla Bean Scones

I recently found a new favorite cooking blog: The Pioneer Woman. I’m not 100% sure why I love it so much, whether its her cooking, her hilarious writing style, her charming and ‘awwwww’ worthy photos or just based on the pure fact that she is seriously living my dream life.
