This week the folks representing Julia Child finally decided to bring out the infallible Sole Meuniere, the recipe that changed it all for Julia! Now I can’t attest to having an “AHA” moment like Julia Child upon first bite, but I must say this was some pretty tasty fish! I will be honest, I was ready to be underwhelmed just based off the fact that this recipe has so much hype surrounding it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying what became a very simple and delicious meal! The Sole had a wonderful browned, crisp and buttery exterior, with a soft, flaky interior, which, topped with some lemon juice, was excellent.

Living in Vancouver and having so much great seafood around, I haven’t quite taken advantage of all the fresh local goods, but I changed that recently and decided to cook some fresh mussels! Other than a little hard work scrubbing and debearding all the mussels, they are very simple to cook. Check out the recipe below.

I’ve been looking at a few roasted vegetable soups and been debating what to try and I settled on this hearty and healthy mix of veggies. So sit back, relax and enjoy a lovely cup of soup!
Today I bring you my Christmas present. Well one of them.
Carlene bought me some fancy black and white farfalle pasta (now pasta for Christmas would be like coal for some people, but I was excited!) for exclusive use with the blog and I finally got around to cooking it. I was really hungry and wasn’t sure how to use it, so I went for something quick and simple.
You can find similar pasta on Amazon here:
Now let’s get to the recipe!

These cute little cupcakes were made for a friend at work daughter’s birthday! Now, I should be honest with you BS’ers – these cupcakes take time, patience and a little bit of loving because you’re dealing with egg whites, but don’t fear – you CAN do it!

One of my favorite foods has to be fish – whether that’s because of my father’s fishing accomplishments or just because it tastes awesome – I just love it! Salmon and walleye are my two favorite fish to eat. On a recent trip to Costco, I convinced my mom to buy a fresh salmon steak so Bob & I could have a cook off. Both were delicious, mine was on the light, fresh tasting side with Bob’s tasting sweet and rich with hidden flavors of candied salmon. To those inexperienced chefs out there in the blog world, don’t fear salmon, it’s relatively hard to screw up and most people love it!
