Grilled Portobello Mushroom, Roasted Red Pepper & Goat Cheese Wrap

I tried a similar wrap like this at a local little bistro and thought it was quite fabulous. It also seemed relatively easy to replicate so I decided to give it a spin and I must say that I was rather successful. Steak & Potato Barbecued Grilled Cheese

Let’s start off by saying WOOOOOOWWW. This latest grilled cheese creation is absolutely amazing and dare I say the best one yet?? First off, I grilled it on the barbecue, so that alone is a game changer, and second, it contains amazing ingredients from my previous grilled cheeses like potatoes, chives and caramelized onions, but adds juicy steak and provolone cheese into the mix! Seriously, this is like a steak sandwich on steroids! The idea came about while at work, as I was discussing my next grilled cheese prospect with my co-worker and friend of many years, Brett T. I had decided my next creation was going to be a barbecued grilled cheese, when Brett threw it out there…STEAK & POTATO GRILLED CHEESE.

The room was silent.

Not really…But I knew this was going down as soon as possible. The wheels started turning as I began envisioning how this behemoth of a grilled/BBQ’d cheese sandwich was going to come together, here is what I came up with.

Beet, Arugula & Goat Cheese Grilled Cheese

I made this grilled cheese a while ago and just haven’t gotten around to posting it, but since it’s NATIONAL GRILLED CHEESE DAY (Probably the best day ever?!?) I couldn’t not post a grilled cheese! Now this one is quite different from anything I have done in the past, with my super hearty and savoury grilled cheese such as the Baked Potato Grilled Cheese. Introducing the French Onion Soup Grilled Cheese!!

I have had this idea for quite some time and was originally going to make it when the Caramelized Onion & Mushroom Brie Grilled Cheese was birthed, as I had bought the ingredients, but couldn’t find Gruyere cheese at my grocery store. With my afternoon off and Gruyere in my fridge, I knew this was happening! Now I don’t expect everybody to make French Onion Soup every time they want this grilled cheese (which could be often!), so I whipped this up separately even though I made my French Onion Soup at the same time. Of course if you did make French Onion Soup, you could just take some onions from that and make this grilled cheese!

Caramelized Onion & Mushroom Brie Grilled Cheese

Well, it’s time for another grilled cheese… Will they ever get old? I DON’T THINK SO! Since I only had one grilled cheese size portion of brie cheese left in my fridge, a vigil of sorts was necessary. To treat this last portion of cheese with the respect it deserves, a special grilled cheese was in order, one which ingredients would love to be draped in gooey brie. Behold my latest creation…THE BAKED POTATO GRILLED CHEESE! After the glory that was the Brocolli & Cheddar Soup Grilled Cheese, I began racking my brain for what other wonderful things I could deconstruct into grilled cheese format. Soon enough I had envisioned this piece of grilled cheese heaven! I mean how can you go wrong with fried potatoes, bacon, cheese, sour cream and chives all made into a melty grilled cheese? Broccoli & Cheddar Soup Grilled Cheese

I go through these phases in life where I can’t stop thinking about grilled sandwiches. My last serious episode was right around the same time BS’ In The Kitchen was born. There is just something extremely satisfying about a sandwich when you grill it. Take your bread and your ingredients and stack’em into a sandwich and you might have a tasty sandwich. But when you take all those things and fry it in a pan, or grill it in a panini press something magical happens! All those delicious ingredients just meld into this glorious irresistible super sandwich! Crispy bread, gooey cheese, all the toasty goodness that is inside…droool.
