I was recently craving chilli, but I’m not the biggest fan of ground beef, so when I stumbled upon some ground turkey at Wal-mart I knew this could satisfy my craving! I wanted to make a chilli that was filling, healthy and had a nice sweet warmth to it, so off into the kitchen I ventured.
To fry the ground turkey, I added all the ingredients together below and stirred over a medium heat until the turkey was fully cooked:
- 0.36 kg of ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt & pepper to your taste
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp dehydrated onions
As the turkey is frying, you can start the base (add in the turkey whenever it’s ready to go):
- 368 mL canned whole mushrooms (two cans of 284 mL cans)
- 28 oz canned diced tomatoes
- 540 mL canned six bean mix
- 341 mL canned whole kernel corn
- 1/2 can Great Western Pilsner beer
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp chives
- 1/2 tbsp paprika
- 2 tsp oregano
- 8 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1 small zucchini (grated)
- 1/4 cup flour (to thicken the sauce)
All in all this is a very delicious, sweet chilli! If you make this, let me know what you think!

I didn’t make any but I did sample a bowl. Thanks it was delicious!!! A real nice change from my normal spicy beef chilli. The sweetness was really warm and inviting – so inviting that I had a second bowl 🙂
