Red Velvet seems to be the request for the next blog post via a recent survey on facebook. So all you Red Velvet lovers (or those soon to be quickly converted), here it is! I recently made the cake and cupcakes for my cousin Payton’s sixth birthday. I think it’s safe to say I officially hold the title of favorite cousin for a while. Now let’s get to what you guys are really wanting. The recipe for this cake came from the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook – and because of copyright issues, I can’t post in on the internet – dang hey?! But just do a simple google search and you can find the recipe. I LOVE this cookbook and it was definitely worth the $25 to buy it – I bought mine from Amazon.ca. When making these, I ran out of red food coloring, so they aren’t as red as I would have liked, but they still tasted delicious!! Tip for next time I make them: buy more Wilton Food Coloring Gel – add almost one whole pint (by pint I mean one small jar) of coloring…. I also might add a bit more cocoa but that’s just a personal choice. So sit back, relax & enjoy the pictures!
As you can also see, I made personalized cupcake wrappers – if anyone is interested in a tutorial on how to make these, comment below and I can make sure it happens! Peace, Love & Cupcakes, Carlene

Hi Carlene,
I love your blog. I have the Magnolia Bakery book too! It’s one of my faves and was a favorite place of our when we lived close by. Very much fun.

Custom DC cake gives you favorite & coolest cousin status for at least 6 months. Well done.
