Titleist Birthday Cake

January 9, 2012 by bsinthekitchen 2 Comments

A few weeks ago I got a call from one of my best friend’s since elementary school, Natasha. She needed some help making a birthday cake for her boyfriend and my fellow friend, Sean. So off to the kitchen we went! Sean is a big golfer, so we both agreed that a Titleist golf cake would be the best thing to make.

Natasha & Carlene | Grade Twelve Graduation

We made a rainbow bit cake box mix because we were a bit tight for time (set into two circle pans). We also used Saucy Sprinkle’s Box Cake Transformation Recipe. For the icing, we whipped up some delicious vanilla buttercream icing:

  • 1 block of butter
  • 1 bag of icing sugar
  • 4 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp of whipping cream (35% cream)
  • 1 tsp of Wilton butter flavouring

Whip the icing up until it is a nice smooth consistency. Add more icing sugar if it’s too runny, or add more cream if too thick.

To pipe the golf ball, we used a round flat icing tip and a very small, thin round flat tip for the Titleist logo (we also mixed the icing with Wilton black gel food coloring). For the grass, we used a grass tip and dyed the icing with a green and brown gel food coloring. However, it’s very important to tell everyone you individually piped each strand of grass πŸ˜‰

I know this isn’t an overly detailed post, but if anyone has any specific questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments. πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday Sean!

This is a great cake for my father, an avid golfer. Thanks for including the recipe and not just pics! Much appreciated!
