During a recent trip to Toronto, I had delicious cereal crusted french toast for breakfast that left me inspired to create something similar! The french toast had a corn flake crust, giving it a crunchy, slightly sweet exterior, but rather than copying the recipe exactly, I went ahead and used Cinnamon Toast Crunch for my version!
This french toast was rich, crunchy, and sweet, perfect for those times you really want to spoil yourself for breakfast!
Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast
Crunchy, rich and sweet, this french toast probably shouldn't become part of your regular breakfast routine, but you might not be able to resist!
Ingredients
- 2 slices of day old french bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/8 cup of heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal plus extra for topping
- butter
Instructions
- In a bowl large enough to dip your bread in, combine eggs, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Get a pan on medium heat, adding enough butter to coat the bottom of the pan.
- Place Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a Ziploc bag, crushing with your hands, then spread on a plate.
- Once pan is heated, dip your bread in the french toast mix for about 5 seconds per side, then place on your plate of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, coating both sides, and place in the pan.
- Cook until golden brown on the first side, then add more butter to your pan, and flip the french toast, frying until golden brown.
- Serve with maple syrup and more crushed cereal on top.
Enjoy!
