If anyone has read the About the BS tab on our blog, you may have noticed we have a very German last name. Well our last name actually means “Germaner” or the literal translation would be “German Boy”, so it only seemed fitting that we should honour our heritage with this German Grilled Cheese. Let’s get to the recipe to see if it meets those high German standards!

After living in Germany for almost 4 years, they wouldn’t choose cheddar as their first choice of cheese. They would use Gouda or Emmantal. Just a suggestion for your sandwich! Also, they like grain bread and not so much white bread usually for sandwiches. So a nice whole grain with seeds from a bakery would be more what you would get.

How did I miss this one? Have you ever picked up sausage at the farmer’s market from that lady by the back door? She’s close to serendipity foods and the cupcake place. Her sausage is so awesome with sauerkraut (and she’s cheaaap) – would be great on this sammie!
