S’more Stuffed French Toast

valium online pharmacy

As I was relaxing on my couch after a particularly long day at work, I had s’mores and sandwiches on my mind. Of course, having sandwiches on my mind pretty much goes without saying! But these thoughts of s’mores are much more rare and came about due to a workplace discussion regarding tabletop s’mores at a local gastropub. So initially I was thinking s’more sandwich…WHa??? Too strange. But then, the obvious came to mind.

Julia Child’s Gluten Free Chocolate Kahlua Mousse | JC100 – Week 2

As many of you may know, Bob & I have been asked to blog in part to celebrate a cooking goddess’s birthday….Miss Julia Child! Now it’s my turn for this round and luckily the draw came out with a dessert – Mousseline Au Chocolat (aka. Chocolate Mousse) – to be exact! I have to admit that I was pretty scared to try this recipe because I thought it would be extremely challenging, but boy was I wrong, it was super easy & SUPER delicious! I also switched up JC’s classic mousse a bit….but let’s get to this recipe so you can see what I changed

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Why is it that everyone always seems to be hunting for that perfect ooey, gooey, chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe? Maybe because the Chocolate Chip is a cookie classic, maybe because it encases a bit of sweet with a touch of salty, either way, we can all almost guarantee that Chocolate Chip Cookies are not going away. I hunted down this recipe and decided to give it a shot. Thanks to Canadian Chef & total hottie, Michael Smith, for this recipe. Continue reading

I’ve been on a big pulse kick lately and trying to find unique and creative ways to add these super foods into my diet. Also, I feel very guilty for living in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan which produces 99% of Canada’s lentil and chickpea crops and 67%  of Canada’s dry pea crop, yet I don’t really know how to re-hyrdrate them, cook or bake with them. So this is a continuation of my adventures! These little lentil bars taste freaking awesome and are packed full of goodness making them great for a grab-n-go breakfast, fuel/recovery snack for athletes or just a healthy, gluten-free snack. In true BS fashion, let’s get to the recipe… Continue reading

I decided that these Chocolate Peanut Butter cookies from Amanda’s Cookin’ and they looked delicious and boy was I right! So let’s stop the BS’ing and get to the recipe…. Continue reading

Mancakes | Saskatoon C95 Bachelor Bacon Chocolate Cupcakes

So I guess the cat is out of the bag… I’ve been selected to participate on C95’s (a local radio station) version of The Bachelor as one of their lucky five bachelorettes. I was trying to think of something creative and delicious and yet a bit different to bring for my first in-station interview. So I decided what is a better way to a guy’s heart but food – specifically bacon and chocolate. Thus my invention of the Mancake. I figure the word ‘cupcake’ is a bit too girly and doesn’t perfectly describe a cupcake that combines chocolate and candied bacon – thus the word Mancake was born. Continue reading

Best Red Velvet Cake or Cupcakes Recipe

Red velvet is one of my favourite cakes. Everyone thinks it’s really fancy, but let’s get real here – it’s super easy. Just think of it as a mellowed chocolate cake with some kick (all thanks to our buddy vinegar). In the past, I religiously used the Magnolia Bakery Red Velvet cake from their great cookbook, but found it to be a tad dry and dense, so I decided to switch it this time to Chef Cake Man Raven‘s Red Velvet Cake recipe. WOW. I’m happy I switched! These cupcakes were perfectly moist, melt in your mouth delicious and nice and light. Continue reading

Black Forest Cake Cookies

I’m often searching for new cookie recipes – something that is a bit out of the norm or takes a spin on a new classic. So when a friend told me his favourite cake was Black Forest Cake, I immediately thought to myself…’hmmm. I bet I can make that into a cookie…’. To make these delicious cookies, I altered my favourite recipe for s’more cookies & came up with this… Continue reading

Pesto-Basil Chocolate Cake with a Parmesan Sour Cream Icing

At work we have an Iron Chef Challenge once a month where a group of people cook off and have their dishes judged by a panel of fellow employees. This month’s secret ingredient is…. PESTO! Right away I knew I didn’t want to do something traditional with pesto, so I ventured off to what I know best: Dessert. I made a Basil Chocolate Cake with a Parmesan Sour Cream Cheese Icing and topped it off with some pine nuts and grated parmesan cheese. This is also one of the best things I’ve ever eaten – SERIOUS FOODGASM. Continue reading
