Hearty Quinoa Breakfast Cereal

September 21, 2010 by bsinthekitchen 1 Comment

Before eating this creation, I never thought of quinoa to be a breakfast food, to me it was just a salad adder or rice replacement. But long behold it can be quite delicious for breakfast!! This early morning meal is hearty, packed with healthy options and seems very ‘fall-like’ to me! To make things even quicker in the morning, I made the quinoa the night before and tossed in the ‘extras’ in the morning! Don’t be afraid to alter this recipe to your taste, adding more fruit and nuts, other spices, etc. Remember, it’s your breakfast!! 🙂 Let’s get to the recipe:

Hearty Quinoa Breakfast Cereal

1 cup Cooked Quinoa
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Poppy Seed
1 tbsp Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Agave Syrup (or honey)
1 tbsp Coconut
2 tbsp Dehydrated Cherries
2 tbsp Dehydrated Cranberries
2 tbsp Walnuts
2 tbsp Chopped Almonds

After combining everything and giving it a quick stir, I like to nuke the mixture in the microwave for about one minute to give it a bit of warmth. I then top it off with a bit of soy milk (feel free to use milk or cream) and serve! Delicious, hearty, healthy!

Yum, Yum, Yum in your Tum, Tum, Tum!
