Sweet & Sour Pork Chops

May 11, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

Sweet & Sour Pork Chops | bsinthekitchen.com

As usual, what I cook is determined by what is in my fridge (which my beloved parents faithfully restock on a regular basis!). So when I saw six pork chops I knew what my supper was going to be, so off I went to the interwebs in search of a recipe which I could pull off with what ingredients were on hand. After a quick search on Tastespotting I found a recipe which I had all the ingredients for at The Bitten Word. Now I needed to make some minor adjustment to their recipe, so here is the adjusted version:

Sweet & Sour Pork Chops

  • 6 Bone-in Pork Chops
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1/3 cup Apple Cider Balsamic Vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp Honey
  • 4 Tbsp Margarine (Didn’t have any butter on hand)
  • 4 Apples
  • Brown Sugar

Head over to The Bitten Word for the cooking instructions.

Extra instructions:

Dice the apples and fry them in a pan with some brown sugar until caramelized, or until they reach your desired softness.

Sprinkle brown sugar on one side of the pork chop a few minutes before taking them off the grill to allow it some time to melt.

This turned out awesome, the pork chops were nice and tender and the addition of brown sugar added a very nice extra bit of sweetness along with the apples on the side. I encourage you all to try this recipe as it is VERY simple!
