I just can’t let go of the daily grilled cheese posts…
Therefore I have decided to do a roundup of my top 5 sandwiches of the month (in no particular order). I also wanted to use this opportunity to help promote an awesome contest being hosted by Wisconsin Cheese’s Grilled Cheese Academy. I have found myself gazing at the amazing grilled cheese sandwiches on their website more than once, and it is with great pain that I am unable to enter any of their contests since I’m Canadian (and there have been a few!). Even though I can’t enter, I hope all you wonderful U.S. readers/grilled cheese lovers will take a moment to check it out. There are some awesome prizes, and they choose 11 winners so your odds are better than most contests!

Doesn’t that sandwich ^ look absolutely amazing? Anyways…back to the top 5! A very difficult thing to do when you are choosing from 31 delicious sandwiches. Off the top of my head, these are the ones that come to mind first, not only because they were delicious, but very surprising in some cases!
Is there much I need to say about this one? Before I even made it, I knew this was going to be one of my favourites (because lasagna is effing amazing!). A delicious meat sauce, covered in tons of cheese. Say no more.
This was one of my surprise grilled cheeses. I love tuna melts, but I was unsure how the texture of seared tuna would work in this sandwich. Well it works AWESOME! Instead of the usual dried out canned tuna loaded with mayo, the seared tuna kept things fresh, adding great dimension to the sandwich with its flaky seared crust, and meaty rare center. This one hasn’t been too popular online yet, but it definitely deserves to be!
I have never made spanakopita, but I have enjoyed significant amounts of these amazing flaky, cheesy, spinachy morsels in my lifetime. This Spanakopita Grilled Cheese was a delicious ode to that beautiful savoury pastry, and a successful one at that! If you’re a spanakopita fan, you need to make this grilled cheese! If you’re not a spanakopita fan…well i’m sorry, I don’t think we can be friends.
Much like The Lasagna Grilled Cheese, there wasn’t much hope for this one being a bad grilled cheese… Roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, etc, etc. This sandwich marked the beginning of my love for the combination of Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Thank you Cuba.
Smoked Salmon Bagel Grilled Cheese
Last, but not least, it’s the Smoked Salmon Bagel Grilled Cheese. The sandwich that kicked off the whole month! Another unexpectedly awesome grilled cheese. I attribute this sandwich’s greatness to the perfect balance of flavours. Acidity from capers, freshness from dill, smokey flavour from the salmon, a bite from some red onion, all balanced with cream cheese, and gruyere cheese. Serious goodness.
What do you guys think of my top 5? What were some of your favourite sandwiches on BS’ in the Kitchen this month? Let us know in the comments!

I just stumbled on your blog yesterday, and I think I may be in love with you. Grilled cheese is quite possibly the best thing on earth. I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got on here.
