I recently was able to share a lovely meal with a friend that was filled with delicious wine (Layered Caked wine to be exact – appropriate for the blog don’t you think?), three different colours of potatoes, an array of other root vegetables followed up with a roasted rosemary lemon chicken with a side of garlic bread and tomato soup. Have you drooling yet? Let’s get to the recipe for the chicken:

Turkey Wild Rice Soup
It seems like every holiday season and everytime the turkey comes out, we’ve always got some left over, so instantely turkey soup comes to mind. Now, we already have one recipe for Turkey Soup on the blog and I can guarentee there will be more. I don’t think soup is my strong point in my baking/cooking skills, so practice it is!
This version is hearty and perfect for a cold day when you need to warm up. The rice keeps it light and healthy and you can always add your own variety of veggies.

Homemade Potato Chips
Today I utilize another Christmas gift.
But this time, I am using the gift I gave to my parents, a Cuisinart Food Slicer. Maybe I am a bad son, or maybe just a little selfish, but as I purchased this item I began dreaming up all the wonderful food I could slice up and put on the blog! Setting my own greed aside, I hope my parents find their gift as useful as I do…
Anyways, onto the potato chips.

A Black & White Affair: Bring your bowties! (aka Potato Bacon Pasta)
Today I bring you my Christmas present. Well one of them.
Carlene bought me some fancy black and white farfalle pasta (now pasta for Christmas would be like coal for some people, but I was excited!) for exclusive use with the blog and I finally got around to cooking it. I was really hungry and wasn’t sure how to use it, so I went for something quick and simple.
You can find similar pasta on Amazon here:
Now let’s get to the recipe!

Fried Walleye & Potato Cakes With Creamy Dill Sauce
Hey folks,
It’s been a while since I last posted, though I have still been contributing with some picture taking for Carlene’s posts! Now that Christmas and all that is over it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Growing up with a father who fishes on a semi-professional level, Carlene and I are no strangers to the joys of fishing and eating fish (especially walleye)! So it’s about time we posted some walleye (or Pickerel as some call it) on the blog. I came across this unique fish and chips recipe a while back which provided my inspiration for this meal.

Chocolate Almond Biscotti
I’ve always wanted to try making biscotti and when I found this recipe for Chocolate Almond Biscotti I knew I had to try making it. Now, I’m not a coffee drinker myself – but I share a passionate romance with tea – but there are a few special coffee drinkers in my life that I wanted to share these biscotti’s with.
Prosciutto Wrapped Garlic Shrimp
Here is a quick, easy and delicious appetizer anyone can make for parties or just for snacking!
Almond-Hazelnut Buttercrunch Toffee
I made this delicious and crunchy Almond-Hazelnut Buttercrunch Toffee as part of my Christmas baking. As a per warning, do NOT store this brittle in a cold place like a garage where Dad’s are known to hang out, as you’ll go to decoratively wrap it and notice that a large piece of the brittle is missing…. yet “no one” has been snacking on it….
Hot Chocolate on a Stick
Before I start this post I have to say that I recently discovered something that is more powerful than google: mothers. Yes, that’s right, mothers. While in the city-wide hunt for gelatin to make the homemade marshmallows, I came across pectin. Some would say pectin would be a suitable sub for gelatin, however, the mother said no and she was right…
I saw these Make & Takes blog and was instantly inspired to make them as they looked cute and delicious! The bottom is a creamy fudge that dissolves into the depths of a warm cup of milk (or soy/almond milk for those lactose people out there) and the marshmallow can be removed to float on top or stirred in for extra sweetness! Let’s get to the two-tiered recipe.

Not From a Blue Box: Homemade Mac & Cheese
Over the years, I’ve developed a love-hate relationship with a little blue blox. Yes we have all had it, Kraft Dinner. There would be periods of time where I wouldn’t touch this stuff with a 10 foot pole and other times where I couldn’t get enough – give it to with ketchup, tuna, hot dogs, whatever, I just loved KD. Now, how many people out there have had the real meal deal? Probably not many, so why don’t you try this easy recipe for yourself and experience the magic of what Macaroni & Cheese is really supposed to taste like!
Let’s get to the recipe…
