Prosciutto & Smoked Gouda Egg Sandwich

December 18, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

One of my favourite things about the holidays is having people over and all of the leftover appetizers you get. My all time favourite is the leftover cheese trays, you get some nice Gouda, Havarti, Brie and other cheeses which are delicious for sandwiches and snacks for days after! After celebrating my mother’s 30+20 birthday (she wasn’t fooling anyone, we all know how to add) we had some delicious smoked Gouda and prosciutto left over, which I knew would be making it’s way into a sandwich of mine very soon!

“Just a Banana” Ice Cream

December 14, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

It’s been a while folks, my apologies. In my quest for blogworthy recipes, I remembered something I have been meaning to blog for quite some time now, one ingredient ice cream.

This recipe is almost like an anti-recipe, it is ice cream with only one ingredient, which I will unveil below!

Caramel Popcorn Twists

December 9, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

Okay BS’ers… I have a confession, while creeping on Facebook, I saw a friend who recommended this recipe. Now I’m normally not a big fan of trying recipes off the back of boxes, but since I LOVE Old Dutch Popcorn Twist™ (has nostalgic memories of the lake and our cabin), I just had to give this recipe a try:

Garlic Shrimp Stuffed Chicken Breast

December 7, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

Today we have a BS’ In The Kitchen original recipe! Aka, Carlene and Bob just throw a bunch of ingredients together and hope for the best. We decided to go for panko breaded chicken breasts, stuffed with shrimp, cream cheese and Italian cheese. I think you’d really have to mess up to make that combination taste bad, so we felt pretty confident with our recipe, here it is:

Bacon-Fleur De Salt Chocolate Velvet Cupcakes Drizzled with Pure Maple Syrup & Chocolate Agave Icing

December 3, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

I was looking for a delicious and unique cupcake to bring to my TEDx Saskatoon wrap-up meeting, but was faced with a bit of a problem: I was squished for time and to be 100% honest, was just too lazy to make a cake from scratch, so I went back to my trustee quick Saucy Sprinkles mix. But ah-ah – problem two struck me at this point: I only had a vanilla box mix and I wanted chocolate. Time to get creative BS’ers….

Black Forest Cupcakes with Double Chocolate Buttercream Icing

November 30, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

On another recent adventure with the loveable douchebag, I made some velvety smooth cupcakes with the *ahem* better half of Team BrittSchmidt. These Black Forest Cupcakes are the cheater version – but hey, if you’re in a bit of a hurry or just generally lazy, these are a great option.

So in true BS’ fashion, let’s get to the recipe:

Crispix Mix

November 30, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

Today we have a special guest, the woman who made all of this possible…OUR MOTHER! Every year she makes this highly addictive, yet extremely simple Christmas treat known as “Crispix Mix”. Now the name doesn’t fairly represent how amazing this stuff is, but take a look at the pictures, try it yourself and believe me it is AMAZING!

Dill Pickle Soup Revisited

November 29, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

Dill Pickle Soup Revisited

This is now the third version of dill pickle soup I have tried, first I made this Dill Pickle Soup, then I tried the Hoodoo Dill Pickle Soup, which was amazing but extremely high in fat and calories due to the fact that it’s basically just whipping cream with pickle brine in it. So for my third time, I attempted to find a healthy middle ground between the two versions, while still getting that nice rich flavour from the Hoodoo recipe.

Busy Chicken Pasta

November 24, 2010 by bsinthekitchen

I think we’ve chatted about this on the blog before, but sometimes us foodies (aka. nickname for food bloggers out there), just don’t have the time or creative energy to make a huge dynamic & showy meal, well that’s where these quick and easy ones come in. Below is a quick (maybe 5-10 mins to make) pasta that’s healthy, light and full of protein.
