Bacon & Onion Campfire Hasselback Potato

June 7, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Bacon & Onion Campfire Hasselback Potato | bsinthekitchen.com #camping #dinner #bsinthekitchen

This potato was delicious. My only beef, is every time I think of the name I can’t help but think of David Hasselhoff. What is a Hasselback anyways? Could it be David Hasselhoff’s back? I’ve suddenly lost my appetite…

How to Roll a Spring Roll (VIDEO)

June 2, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

How to Roll a Spring Roll (Video) | bsinthekitchen.com #dinner #vietnamese #bsinthekitchen

I have some exciting news to announce! After making a promotional video for National Grilled Cheese Month (watch it if you haven’t!), I was contacted by Tablespoon.com (a website under the General Mills brand). They wanted to know if I had made the video (I did!), as they were interested in a video partnership to produce similar content for their website! After emailing back and forth, we decided a great topic for the first video/blog post would be “How to Roll a Spring Roll”.

One Pot Spinach & Turkey Meatball Pasta

May 30, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

One Pot Spinach & Turkey Meatball Pasta | bsinthekitchen.com #pasta #dinner #bsinthekitchen

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I had become intrigued by the idea of “One Pot Pasta” after watching an episode of Bon Appetempt, so here it is! I tossed this recipe together with what I had on hand, hoped for the best and was rewarded with a delicious dinner! I’m not a fan of heavily sauced pasta dishes, especially now that we finally have some nice weather in Saskatoon, so this hit the spot perfectly! A light, fresh pasta dish that doesn’t leave you feeling like you just ate a brick!

Turkey, Spinach & Bacon Meatballs | bsinthekitchen.com #dinner #healthy #bsinthekitchen

Anybody else out there enjoy the awkward and hilarious online cooking show made by food blog Bon Appetempt? About two months ago, I was going on a 3AM Vimeo food video binge when I came across Bon Appetempt’s “30-Minute Meal?” video. Shortly after discovering Bon Appetempt, I began watching their videos and not so shortly after, I had finished all of them. They are awesome. Go see for yourself!

Tortilla Hot Dog Wraps

May 23, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Tortilla Hot Dog Wraps | bsinthekitchen.com #hotdog #summer #bsinthekitchen

Today I found myself with an abundance of hot dogs in my fridge and no hot dog buns to be found. Now some people may just give up right there. Not me.

I was determined to eat two hot dogs for lunch.

I could have settled on eating them bunless, or on a slice of bread, but that just wasn’t doing it for me. Then I saw mini tortillas in my freezer, and I knew what I had to do…

Smoked Salmon Potato Salad

May 21, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Smoked Salmon Potato Salad | bsinthekitchen.com #sidedish #dinner #bsinthekitchen

Here is a recipe I created the same day I made the delicious Smoked Salmon Bagel Grilled Cheese. Given that I wanted to keep things grilled cheese focused during April, I have kept from posting it until now! Although for anybody following me on Instagram, you might remember seeing it!

As I have previously mentioned, I’m not crazy about smoked salmon, often finding it far too pungent, but it’s a whole different story here! Well balanced with a number of other ingredients, namely fresh dill, capers and sour cream, the smoked salmon enters into a beautiful union of flavours!

Lobster Alfredo

May 17, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Lobster Alfredo | bsinthekitchen.com #dinner #pasta #bsinthekitchen

Made a lobster roll? Still got leftovers? Don’t like lobster rolls? Love pasta? Well then this dish is for you! Another easy recipe utilizing leftover (or fresh) lobster. Given that i’m not a huge fan of really rich pasta sauce, I have made a butter free sauce, allowing the lobster and parmesan cheese to provide plenty of rich, hearty flavour!

The GBC (Gin, Basil, Cumber) + VIDEO RECIPE

May 13, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

The GBC (Gin, Basil & Cucumber) | bsinthekitchen.com #cocktail #drink #bsinthekitchen

Inspired by a similar drink at a local Saskatoon restaurant/lounge called The Rook & Raven, I decided to try and make my own version! Cucumber and basil in a cocktail may seem like a  strange combo to some, but I assure you it is delicious and very refreshing! Especially with gin! I even decided to do a short recipe video for it, I hope you guys enjoy it!
