Red Duck Curry

July 9, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Red Duck Curry | bsinthekitchen.com #curry #dinner #bsinthekitchen

Guilty confession: I made this recipe two years ago…blog posts don’t get better with age, so don’t ask me why I haven’t posted it until now! I had all of the pictures edited and everything, all I needed to do was type up the recipe and hit publish! But that’s all in the past now, so let’s just enjoy some duck curry!

This recipe initially piqued my interest because of the main ingredient: duck. When cooked properly, duck is delicious, and thanks to my uncle who is a hunting guide, my family has a constant supply of free duck! This curry was very flavourful and had just the right amount of heat!

Steak & Blue Cheese Sandwich

July 7, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Steak & Blue Cheese Sandwich | bsinthekitchen.com #lunch #sandwich #bsinthekitchen

In the final round of steak leftovers, I give you one more steak and blue cheese inspired dish! Probably one of the most typical ways to use up leftover steak is in a sandwich of course! This one is pretty much a combination of the last two dishes I posted, but stuck between two slices of bread! Once again using the tangy blue cheese dressing, loading the sandwich with veggies, steak, and even some leftover caramelized onions! YUM!

Steak Salad with Bacon Blue Cheese Dressing

July 4, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Steak Salad with Bacon Blue Cheese Dressing | bsinthekitchen.com #salad #dinner #bsinthekitchen

After making the amazing Bacon & Blue Cheese Steak the other day, rather then just heat up the leftovers, I wanted to make something delicious and blog-worthy! Continuing on with the blue cheese and bacon theme, I settled on making a delicious steak salad with bacon blue cheese dressing for lunch!

It was great! Fresh romaine lettuce, topped with tender steak and a tangy homemade blue cheese dressing made a refreshing, yet hearty lunch!

Bacon & Blue Cheese Steak

July 2, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Bacon & Blue Cheese Steak | bsinthekitchen.com #barbecue #steak #bsinthekitchen

Do you ever have those days where your meals are strictly determined by the fear of expired meat? Well, today was one of those days. In fact, today was a day I ate in fear of expired everything.

Inspired by expired we’ll say!

A pack of bacon, many yogurts, lattes with that ticking time bomb of milk in my fridge, and delicious steaks to finish off this exhilarating day living on the edge of expiration!

Vodka-Infused Watermelon VIDEO

July 1, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Vodka-Infused Watermelon Video Recipe | bsinthekitchen.com #watermelon #summer #bsinthekitchen

A little late to make on Canada Day (today), but just in time for Independence Day, I present to you my latest video creation for Tablespoon.com! I was very curious to try this Vodka-Infused Watermelon, and was quite pleased when the entire bottle of vodka disappeared into it! The result was a very boozy, yet refreshing watermelon! The unfortunate thing is I don’t drink much, and had a real craving for fresh watermelon after making this. Every so often I would sneak into my fridge, grabbing a piece of vodka-infused watermelon, hoping maybe that piece didn’t get much infusion…no luck.

All I had was a very vodka infused watermelon.

I had two choices: eat the watermelon and get drunk by myself (and wallow in lonely drunkenness), or live a sad watermelonless existence until I picked a new one up :(. I opted for the latter, freezing the watermelon until I have an occasion to make some slushy frozen vodka-watermelon drinks!

Check out the full blog post here: http://rock-ur-party.tablespoon.com/2013/07/01/how-to-make-vodka-infused-watermelon/ and the video below!

Cheers!

Bob

Grilled Lemon & Honey Garlic Chicken

June 29, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Grilled Lemon & Honey Garlic Chicken | bsinthekitchen.com #barbecue #chicken #bsinthekitchen

June has been a pretty great month in the Life of Bob! I finally got to share two recipe videos I produced for General Mills’ website Tablespoon.com, with one more being published in a couple days, and two more currently in the works! It’s been great so far, and i’m looking forward to doing more projects with them! I’ve also been finishing a couple recipe videos of my own that I shot several months ago (buttermilk biscuits, and ricotta gnocchi)! Carlene & I also had another wonderful CTV segment, which was a lot of fun, shooting live on location at our parents acreage! Video galore!

Along with all of that, I went on an amazing trip with my girlfriend’s family to Toronto and New York, both of which I had never visited before! It was a quick 9 day trip (with travel for three of those days), but we saw a lot, ate even more, and I snapped a ton of photos (check out my Instagram to see some of them)!

Campfire Crescent Dogs VIDEO

June 25, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Campfire Crescent Dogs | bsinthekitchen.com #campfire #camping #bsinthekitchen

As you may know from this post I wrote a few weeks ago, I have joined the  Tablespoon.com team of bloggers, and have been working on some exciting video projects! I recently wrapped up the third one, and have a couple more in the pipeline that I will be sharing as they are published!

When the idea for a campfire video was proposed, I loved the idea, and had the perfect plan for it! My parents live on a beautiful acreage that I knew would provide a great backdrop for everything! Unfortunately, the day I decided to make the video, it was really windy, hardly ideal for making a campfire (especially one I would be filming)! Undeterred, I set about making a wind barrier around the fire pit, and soldiered on, roasting, eating and filming Many delicious crescent dogs!

Spinach, Mushroom & Goat Cheese No-Knead Pizza

June 17, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Spinach, Mushroom & Goat Cheese No-Knead Pizza | bsinthekitchen.com #pizza #dinner #bsinthekitchen

Tomorrow (or I guess today once this post is published), I will be making my way to New York for the first time, where I will most certainly be enjoying a slice of pizza or two! In the spirit of New York and pizza, I felt this recipe that has been hanging out in my blog archives for quite some time needed to be shared!

This awesome pizza uses Jim Lahey’s amazing “no-knead” pizza dough, making it ridiculously easy to make! You basically just put everything in a bowl the night before, and voila, the next day it has become an amazing pizza dough! Now that’s my kind of recipe! Of course, I had to add a little bit extra to it, because following a recipe to the tee is never as much fun!

Roast Beef, Blue Cheese & Mushroom Twice Baked Potato

June 14, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Roast Beef, Blue Cheese & Mushroom Twice Baked Potato | bsinthekitchen.com #leftovers #side #bsinthekitchen

My family has always been big on leftovers, and as a result I embrace the ability to re-purpose yesterdays meal into something new and delicious! More often than not, it’s something simple like a sandwich or quesadilla, but depending on what you’re left with you can make some pretty awesome meals! In this case, after a work related function, my mom was left with a bunch of roast beef and potatoes, which became this delicious twice baked potato!

Scouring my fridge for complementary ingredients, I found blue cheese and mushrooms, which goes great with both roast beef and potatoes! Combine all of those things together and you have a great side dish or appetizer for your dinner!

Roasted Marshmallows & Baileys

June 7, 2013 by bsinthekitchen

Roasted Marshmallows & Baileys | bsinthekitchen.com #camping #baileys #bsinthekitchen

Thanks to my dad’s rigorous tournament fishing schedule every summer, my family did a LOT of camping, going nearly every weekend! As such, I have many fond memories growing up that revolve around our camping expeditions. Singing “Down by the Bay” as many times as possible to annoy Carlene, making every funny face I could think of while driving to annoy Carlene, “accidentally” crossing over “The Line” of the backseat to annoy Carlene… Okay so you get it, I spent a lot of time trying to annoy my sister!

Watch us enjoy it on CTV Morning Live – Saskatoon!
